The weekend (plus) of Illuxcon 2013 represented the largest collection of Magic the Gathering art and artists in years. With over 45 artists displaying their work at booths and several others running panels and doing portfolio reviews of aspiring illustrators, the amount of talent represented at the Allentown Museum of Art last weekend was awe-inspiring.
I will have an in-depth write up as well as some photo (and video) coverage coming up soon, but first I wanted to share this recording of the Magic Artist panel from Saturday afternoon.
9 outstanding artists, representing the art of the Magic from inception to its current state of excellence, sat down with nearly 100 art students to share their experience working for Magic and answer questions about the art approval process and what it takes to get an assignment.
Sadly, technical difficulties cut off the initial intro as well as questions from Winona Nelson and Adam Palumbo but I was able to get video of the first 20 minutes, which should be uploaded and posted here soon.
I hope everyone enjoys the panel and learns and laughs along with those that were able to attend. Illuxcon was a great experience and I hope this and future updates will give you a glimpse into the amazing work and talent that was on display.
Below are the artists that participated in the panel:
